Sola Skincare all natural bathroom cleaner recipe

Nobody likes cleaning. Well that’s not true, I have a friend who LOVES cleaning, but I think she’s the exception to the rule. I know I don’t like it but of course it has to be done. For years now we’ve been relying on good ol’ baking soda, vinegar, castile soap and a few other gentle yet effective options, but often it was usually just a sprinkle of baking soda in a tub, and a washcloth, plus some elbow grease. It’s effective, but somehow it lacked something. I came across this blend for a bathroom scrub and had all the ingredients, so thought I’d try it. The simple fact that it’s a blend in a jar, scented with essential oils alone, makes it more tempting for me to use.

As soon as I made it, I put it to the test – scrubbing out all the sinks. It totally works! It’s quick, effective and smells great.

I remember years ago, using typical bathroom cleansers and needing to hold my breath when I used them. It just never sat well with me. This is a far safer option, and it works!  Win-win.

So, all you need to do is mix the following in a glass jar that holds 2 cups:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 3 tbsp castile soap (I used Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint because that’s what I had on hand)
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • Essential oils: 15 drops orange, 15 drops tea tree and 10 drops peppermint.

You could use different essential oils if you’d like, or omit them altogether. These were chosen for their great smell and effectiveness against bacteria, but any others will also work.

The ingredients mix to form a thick paste; if you'd like to thin it out, just add a little more castile soap.

Dab a little on your sponge, and you're ready to scrub!

I've been using this scrub everywhere, bathroom, kitchen, it gets sticker gum off counters (those of you who have kids will appreciate this).

Here’s the link to the original tutorial I used.

Give it a try!
