Make your own Almond Milk

Homemade almond milk is healthy, inexpensive, easy to make and totally delicious. Whether you're dairy-free by choice or you just like to mix it up when it comes to milk options, homemade almond milk makes a tasty alternative to conventional dairy.

The recipe I like to use is from Wellness Mama, and it has only 3 ingredients, plus water:

1 cup raw almonds

4 cups filtered water

1 tsp Vanilla extract (optional)

1-2 Dates, or a tbsp or two of honey or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Soak almonds overnight in water with 1/2 tsp sea salt.
  2. Rinse almonds well and throw them in the blender with the water and the optional ingredients and blend until smooth and creamy (usually takes 2-3 minutes).
  3. Pour through a nut milk bag, cheese cloth or clean kitchen towel.
  4. Pour into glass jar or pitcher and store in fridge for up to 1 week.

Give your almond milk a quick shake before you pour it as it tends to separate in the fridge. It's so delicious, enjoy!

**Keep the leftever pulp from the almonds and use them in smoothies or baking (there are many recipes that use the leftover pulp!
